Enterprise Grade VPN Firewall Security
The WMU/MU-9000VPN features a full array of security feature. For VPN function, the router is the only one in its price range that offer both IPsec and PPTP server function, with very simple setup procedure. So whether you want to work from home or connect 2 office networks together over Internet, the WMU-9000VPN has the function for you.  Finally, OvisLink integrated the advance Policy based SPI firewall to protect you from unwanted intruders

Content Filtering
Parents or system administrators can establish and enforce acceptable Internet access policies. Content filtering enables the blocking of certain websites, certain contents, as well as monitors and controls users, preventing them from visiting improper and unhealthy web pages. The router even has the ability to check compressed file for content legitimacy

Sophisticated QoS Bandwidth Control
The Bandwidth Manager put an end to one user or one application occupy the entire Internet bandwidth.   By assigning pre-defined bandwidth (in 1Kbps increment) to specific applications or IP groups according to their level of importance, you are in complete control of the broadband connection speed.  Furthermore, when a higher priority application is not present, the bandwidth manager automatically upgrade the bandwidth to keep the Internet speed optimized.  For office environment, you can finally setup your FTP and other Internet servers without worry.  For home users that use P2P application such as eDonkey or Kazza, you can finally limit the bandwidth so you can still have enable bandwidth for other applications.  OvisLink offers you the high end Bandwidth Management at a fraction of the competitor's cost.

Complete FTP and File Server
The built-in 4 USB 2.0 ports offer user unlimited possibilities for sharing files over the Internet or inside the LAN.  Users can attach USB hard drive, USB flash drive, MP3 player, card readers, or even digital cameras to the router.  The router is pre-load with drivers for most of the USB device on the market.  File sharing is administrated by the powerful yet simple to use FTP server that allow anonymous or account access.  You can define the home directory and read/write access for each account.  But OvisLink go the extra miles to let each account have different upload/download bandwidth and download/upload ratio.  This feature is important so you can limit the ftp bandwidth and still have enough bandwidth for other users and applications.  And it is only possible in routers with built-in FTP server and bandwidth manager.

USB 2.0 Print Server
You can attach up to 4 USB printers, and share them over the network wirelessly.  After plugging in the printers, the router can display the printer's model number and status right on the screen.  The TCP/IP printing setup help is built-in to the router's web management interface.  So you can follow the guide step by step to set up your network printing.

Video Server with Recording and Email
Web Cam allows user to monitor their home or office from remote locations via Internet or detect any unauthorized entries. Video can view remotely through web browser and record to the USB storage device.  Motion detection with mail captured images and recording function allow administrator to be alarmed of problem at the first moment. User can also set scheduled recording at certain day and time.

Advance Router Functions
For router function, the WMU/MU-9000VPN provide extra feature that is only found in high end products.  The Host Name table (under Advance->

Static Route
) function offer business users a quick way to build Intranet.  Simply enter the host name(i.e. www.myname.com) and its local IP address, the entire LAN can access this computer's internet servers (i.e. Microsoft IIS) on the web browser.  For Universal Plug-n-Play support, the router not only offer UPnP function but also UPnP firewall to give user complete peace of mind.  Finally, the router support Fixed IP, DHCP, PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP, and Bigpond cable connection for global ISP compatibility.  For user who already has a router in their environment, you can enable disable the NAT router function altogether for better integration with your environment.

802.11g Wireless with Policy Control(WMU-9000VPN only)
The router is equipped four 10/100Mbps LAN ports with Auto MDI/MID-X function.  But for those who prefers to forgo wires together.  OvisLink has integrated the fastest wireless solution into the wireless model WMU-9000VPN.  Fully compliant with the latest IEEE 802.11G standard, the router allows high speed wireless connection at the same frequency spectrum as 802.11b.  Rated at 17dBm output power, users no longer have to compromise between speed and distance.  The antenna is detachable to allow upgrade to higher gain antennas.  But most surprising of all, the WMU-9000VPN have policy based access control, so administrators can define the precisely what type of access the wireless clients can do.

As you can clearly see this router has been packed with features and should be excellent to use in theory lets get it installed and see how it gets on

Part-2 Installation

As this is a router you can connect it straight to the wan line (provider line) and set it up from there. I chose the over method for this test as I didn’t want to interfere with my setup I have at the moment, so I will connect the router to the setup I already have and test it from there

Performance

LOL    it took a total of 5 minutes to integrate this into my current setup(I cant even get a wireless Lan card setup that fast) and it was now time to test the features  plugging my newly acquired External USB HDD enclosures the device immediately finding them, with a few clicks of the mouse in the setting screen I soon had a network storage set up through ftp. I set this up to be a network storage facility, off to a great start. It was the same with the web cam my Logitech quick cam was detected and within minutes I had it set up to a ip, I absolutely loved this as I could now view the cam without any of the computers on nice. This can also be sent to motion detection which adds a security feature, For Example: I go out and my house is empty. All of a sudden I get an email notice on my P900 I view it, my cams been activated, using a web cam viewer on my phone I type in the ip of the camera and within a little while (you could do this from a work pc as well) I am viewing from the cam live images from my home. A very nice feature indeed. Also setup through the USB ports was my Cannon printer this was also detected and installed and I now had all the same features before except I now have 3 spare USB ports on my PC (needed them tbh constantly changing over things) and my pc doesn’t have to be on for any of the other computers to use them very nice indeed. After the results of this I connected up all my PC to the router and set up the QoS and set one computer to have main full bandwidth and gave the other 3 ½ meg each, the think I liked about this feature is it could be done in small 1kb increase or decreases  as well as having settings for other software such as Kazza, MSN, Edonkey ect. Opps I nearly forgot the wireless connection works as well as one would expect from a 54mbps connection, I am sorry about forgetting about this I was two wrapped up in the over features, I should also mention here that if you don’t need the wireless connectivity OvisLink also make a wired version

Conclusion

To say I am very impressed is an understatement, this router has it all the fact that within a hour a had all my stuff set up and running through it was outstanding. The extra functions this has over most is amazing  the best thing to say here is I am using it and I would not let anyone prize it from my hands  great product with great functionalities  my choice for a total solution.
