To be honest when I first received the Skalli I wasn’t expecting much from it; as from what I could see, it was an average sized cooler, not particularly big, and only had two heatpipes. For example the Noctua tested against it today has 4 heatpipes, and is much bigger, so I was expecting the Skalli’s performance to be pretty poor in comparison. But I was pleasantly surprised by the results, and in our tests the Skalli was even able to nip at the heels of the much bigger and more expensive Noctua cooler. The average cooler size does have a drawback though, in that once you break the 130W thermal barrier the cooler is designed for, the performance is likely to drop off much faster than the larger coolers (like the Noctua) will. At £25, and performance not a world away from a cooler nearly twice that cost, it will make a great cooler for someone whose case is too small to fit a larger cooler, with decent performance for all but those who will break the 130W limit with heavy overclocking. In use the fan was very quiet, and you could only hear it over case fans when the CPU was loaded and the fan span up. Due to the Skalli’s ‘surprise’ performance, this cooler is definitely recommended.
Pros - Very Quiet
- Average size for ‘smaller’ cases
- Great Performance
- Easy mounting with pushpins
Cons Reality Check: For an average sized cooler it packs a decent punch, and will be great for all but the most hardcore overclockers. Quite a litte gem TBH that suprised me Reviewed by Dan Thanks to Titan for Supplying the cooler for testing
