As a bit of a newbie to the Intel I series of CPU’s I wasn’t too sure on overclocking these chips but having the OCGenie do some of it for me and a little research on the internet I was able to get a stable 4Ghz with relative ease.
There is another way of overclocking on the MSI P55-GD65 and that is from within widows via the MSI control centre. Normally I wouldn’t recommend this method but it is a good way of learning about tweaking the system without having to go into the bios which some people may find a little daunting. Most of the important things you need to change are there and you could easily transfer what is learnt here into the bios settings. Advanced users might find it useful too, it’s almost a way of working out what works without having to save a bios setting boot into windows, test, reboot go into the bios and repeat until unstable. Dial up a few settings, apply, test, and repeat so to speak.
As I didn’t want to push my luck and I was quite happy with my 4Ghz result, nice round number and all that, so I left it there and reran the tests / benchmarks. Next Page - Benchmarks
