Introduction

XtremeComputing are very grateful to have been given a core i7 920 by Intel to review. So sit tight strap in and lets see if the i7 lives up to the hype.

I’m sure you all know who Intel are, but on the off chance that you’ve just woken up from cyrogenic stasis from the past 20+ years, here’s a little bit about them

“Intel pushes the boundaries of innovation so our work can make people's lives more exciting, fulfilling, and manageable. And our work never stops. We never stop looking for the next leap ahead in technology, education, culture, manufacturing, and social responsibility. And we never stop striving to deliver solutions with greater benefits for everyone.”

Intel seem to have been on a roll since their release of their core series of processors a few years ago. Lets check out if i7 is worthy of the core moniker.

Since Intel sent us an ES OEM chip, all it came in was a little cardboard box, so let’s jump straight into the specifications of i7.
