Introduction

Today I will be looking at a peripheral from probably one of the most well known manufacturers of peripherals there is, that company is Genius and the peripheral in question is a gaming keypad called the ErgoMedia 500. Before taking a look at the ErgoMedia 500 here’s some background info on Genius.

Genius (KYE) was founded in 1983 and the head office is based in Taipei, Taiwan, with branches around the globe in the US, UK, Germany, Hong Kong and China. With 3000 employees and sales revenue of over $420 MILLION in 2006 makes them one of the largest pc component manufacturers in the world.

Genius’ mission is as follows (taken from the Genius website)

To envision and to fulfil our goal of creating an agile wireless world, KYE has dedicated its major resource in core wireless technology to design and innovate a totally free environment of personal interface products. Since the boundary between IT industry and consumer electronic field is not as clear as before, our target market is not only in the IT field but also in the mobile phone segment. Therefore, KYE stipulates, “Create a Totally Free Enjoyment & Environment” as its mission.
