Today from Fujitsu Siemens we are looking at a very interesting and exciting product, their Amilo Sa3650 laptop (thatís not the exciting part) with Graphics Booster XGP external graphics card.

If alarm bells havenít gone off in your head yet, and a wave of excitement passed over you, let me explain the significance of an external graphics card.

As you will know; the primary purpose of laptops are for them to be carried around and used out and about, so they have to be small/light enough to be comfortably carried for long periods of time, and so consequently use a relatively low amount of power to have any chance at a decent runtime on battery. Because of this, they must make sacrifices and compromises when it comes to what calibre of hardware they can use. So for most laptops, gaming at decent resolutions/quality settings is out of the question as they have to use a basic integrated graphics card.

This is where Fujitsu Siemensí Graphics Booster comes into play. The Amilo Sa3650 laptop has in addition to itís integrated graphics card, a PCIe 2.0 expansion port to plug in the external Graphics Booster XGP unit which it allows it to run an external monitor with vastly improved gaming ability. Its usefulness isnít just limited to games though, as it would make a great docking station as the XGP unit also features USB ports.

Hopefully now you are a little bit more excited about this product and want see the unit in action, so letís get on with itÖ
