There are a few things that stand out on the Evo Blue 650’s list of features and they are the fan, which is 14cm so larger than normal so should hopefully be fairly quiet yet move a decent amount of air, it is also variable speed dependant on load so this will also help keep things as quiet as possible.
Also of note is single 12v rail, some argue this is better than multiple rails as it only overloads when the absolute max is taken from the power supplies 12v rail rather than say one of 4 12v rails, which today’s top end graphics cards could quite easily do.
The Evo Blue 650 is a modular power supply so you will only ever need to attach those cables you actually need, no looking for places to hide unused cables, a nice bonus.
Everything else is pretty much what you would hope / expect to find on a top quality power supply. All the usual safety features are there Over Power, Over Voltage, and Short-Circuit. As well as multiple graphics card power connections including the newer 8 way connectors.
For that added bling factor, which you will most likely either love or hate is the multi coloured leds effect on the fan and modular connectors, me I’ll wait till I have seen what they do before I decide to switch them off or not, assuming they can be switched off.
Finally we find the info most users are likely to be interested in, the power ratings of the voltage rails.
INPUT VOLTAGE: 650W: 100V~240V, FREQUENCY: 47Hz~63Hz | ||||||||
MODEL | Voltage | +3.3V | +5V | +12V | -12V | +5Vsb | TOTAL POWER | PEAK POWER |
650W | MAX Load | 30A | 28A | 48A | 0.8A | 3A | 600W | 650W |
Combined Wattage | 180W | 576W | 9.6W | 15W |
As mentioned the Evo Blue has a large single 12v rail which I personally prefer, all the other rails seem to be balanced nicely and comparable to the competitions similarly rated power supplies.
Let’s have a closer look at the Evo Blue 650w.
