Steelseries WoW Legendary Edition MMO Mouse

Conclusion

Despite the awesome usability with WoW I found this mouse to be not only limited in terms compatibility with other titles but also in terms of build quality

The shell is transparent and painted on the back to allow for this mouse’s illumination type and this leads to some issues, the top as a side effect is shiny and slick, after extended usage you get a pretty large build up on sweat and assorted moisture build up making the mouse to slick you can easily loose grip and drop the mouse, not an idea situation at the end of a three hour raid, in addition the left side buttons feel loose and have considerable side to side wobble

The pinkie button is set so far forward as to be almost unusable unless you have hands like ET or have a very far forward mouse holding style

Another issue can be find with the UI, as mentioned earlier the UI will not scale and cannot be resized meaning that laptop users will find there illumination controls drop off the bottom of the screen and only be able to use 35% of the colour options and none of the pulse and intensity settings, the software is also insanely restrictive in terms of compatibility with other games on the market, this will be no problem whatsoever for a WoW fanatic but if you play multiple titles you will find yourself in serious difficulties with Kay mapping and macros. You can do something about this but it is relatively hit and misses and involves a lot of changing admin setting and account controls, something I prefer myself not to do.

This mouse would normally get a Bronze award as I feel it is subpar in so many areas when compared to other Steelseries products, the awesome WoW interface and customization of features allows me to award this mouse a Silver.

Pros

  • Brilliant in game experience when used with WoW
  • Great key customization for WoW
  • Great colour options on illumination
  • Astonishingly precise tracking

Cons

  • Limited compatibility when used with other games and some programmes
  • Slippery after long use
  • Poor positioning on pinkie buttons
  • UI does not take laptop screens in to account

Reality Check:  If you are a WoW player and only a WoW player you will love this mouse it has everything you could ever want and more, and will no doubt enhance your gaming experience in a big way. If you play multiple games and other MMO titles, this is not the mouse for you, the UI is just too limited with compatibility to be any use with other major MMO games available out there.
