Silverstone TJ06 full ATX case

The screw less add-on card system looks very capable and I was looking forward to a screw less setup after using screws for so long. However, for some reason my gfx card was loose and did not fit properly, although the others did, so I removed it for the install. This is a big job but not a difficult one, all you have to do is take all you hardware from your old case and port it over to the TJ06, sounds easy enough but I must warn you not to be hasty. If you are a beginner, make a detailed list of everything you removed and from where it was taken, take your time and most importantly place you hardware on antistatic material to avoid damage.

Ok the first thing you should do is remove your hard drives CD/DVD-ROM’s, place them in a safe place, then remove you old power supply unless you have a new one. Remove your add-on cards (GFX, sound, LAN ect) and again place them in a safe place, now move onto the motherboard if you have a large CPU cooler, I recommend that you remove it. Otherwise, leave the CPU, cooler and RAM in the motherboard, as it does not have to be removed. The motherboard should be removed easily but again make sure you put it in a safe place.

Once you have your hardware removed, take the TJ06 and follow the above procedure but backwards.

On a personal note this has been one of the easiest full installs that I have done in my six years working with computers, this is down to as I stated earlier to the massive amount of space in the motherboard area. I am so impressed with it in fact, that I think all enclosures should use this layout in some sort of config as it makes installing a much easier process.

The TJ06 does come with a good user guide that has a quick guide on installing your hardware into the TJ06 but if at all possible I would recommend a novice user seek professional advice as this is a big job that although not complicated can be daunting.

I was well impressed with the low temperatures I received with the wind tunnel dropping the temps on my standard cooler from 41 to 32c, but 4 days after it turned up a watercooling kit turned up so I decided to install it just to see if there is room for it as it.

As you can see with watercooling you would have to remove the wind tunnel but that’s not that bad, you can see how much space is left still in the case even with a 120mm fan and radiator placed at the front. A very well made case with one of my now personal favourite layouts.
