Before we go on to the installation I would like to show you the Dual Hinge
Part-2 Installation + Tests
Installation was as quick as to be expected with a Lcd plug in, install the driver and thatís it your ready to go
For testing I was browsing the web for a while then playing games, now this is were the features come in. MagicBright is one of them which allow you to change the settings of the monitor to suit your needs.
Entertain Mode : This is the mode that allows the user to take full advantage of the power and benefits of MagicBrightTM. It delivers the maximum brightness of 330cd/m2 and optimizes color setting so that moving images, games, DVDs, TVs, and HDTVs can be enjoyed at their best .
Internet Mode : This optimized mode provides the maximum brightness of 200cd/?? Still images can be viewed with even more brightness while text is shown sharply and is ideal for Internet surfing.
Text Mode : Provides the maximum brightness of 150cd/m2 With impeccable focus and legibility, this mode provides an environment ideal for word processing and spreadsheet work
User Mode: Provides the user with his own setting so that if MagicBrightTM choices are not for you u can return to your last setting.
Internet browsing on this monitor was nice ok it wasnít as nice as some high end Crt monitors I have seen but the best LCD I have seen I couldnít believe the sharpness compared to other LCD it was clear I took loads of pictures to try to emphasize this but couldnít get one to come out clear to show exactly what I mean (time to get a better camera I think)
I know most of you are interested in the gaming and multimedia side as this is were most LCD pit stop while CRT monitors keep on going so how does the syncmaster do.
Well for the first few days I was stuck with the VGA cable and had what I can only explain as normal ghosting, now for those of you that have yet to see ghosting itís a strange effect kind of like the effect of a bad TV reception this would usually only occur in games. As for multimedia it worked fine and was just as Crisp and sharp as my 19 inc FLT CRT. Day 3 my DVI cable arrived from my supplier(Samsung should really include this as you the users wouldnít be to impressed plugging it in through the VGA)
Wow what a difference ok there still is a tiny bit of ghosting but I mean tiny, after a few minutes I didnít even notice it. Maybe I only noticed it because I was looking for it. I took this monitor into the Entertainment room and connected it up and invited a few Gamers Round to have a try this is when I noticed this.
I could see the picture from all sorts of angles, this impressed me as we all know what LCD can look like from the side.
Any way back to the gaming side of things did it get approval?†
Every one of the people that tried this monitor was impressed they all agreed that the ghosting was still there but unnoticeable after a few minutes. Would they buy oneÖ well the price is high but I would say you get what you pay for.
This monitor is in its own class.
If you want an LCD monitor to free up space but still be able to play games in decent resolutions This is it I would love to see a LCD monitor beat this on performance and will probably do so in the future but in my mind this is King of the 17s at the moment one of my friends that tried this monitor that day has gone out and brought one (lucky git..oi Samsung can I get some commission) the only down side to this monitor is the price, but as he said he wanted the best one available so he brought it.
This is Definite my Choice for LCD even over a 19 inch.. Why? Because its design and size make it perfect for LAN gaming.
Well built and solid construction
Ease of install and use
Simple but elegant Design
Dual hinge stand
Wall mount included
