Samsung Syncmaster 172X† £†354.00
As you can see the monitor is packed very well with the monitor being sandwiched between 2 layers. In the top layer is all the accessories everything was neat and well packed.
Whatís in the box
Wow is all†I can say, as I took the monitor out of its protective wrapping I was stunned b the look of the monitor it was so thin it measured just under 2cm(Included in this package is the LCD, instructions+driver disk, VGA cable, power supply and a wall mount. Now this is a bonus as you donít usually see these included with monitors, if this wasnít a loan item this would have been mounted straight to the wall, nice accessory.
Ok letís take a closer look at the device it self.
If you look at the above photos you will notice the connectors for this monitor are not actually on the monitor itself but built in to Samsungs dual hinge stand. Also the control buttons are not situated on the face but on the underside, this I thought was a pain and clumsy at first but after a few days I got used to it (also if they werenít there and on the face it would spoil the crisp clean lines) lets take a closer look at the connections.
As I explained earlier the connections are built into the stand (DVI, power and VGA)
I think it was excellent to do it this way as it makes for a tidier desk and seemed easier 2 connect up than a normal LCD with the connections on the back of the actual monitor.
Oops sorry SamsungÖ the reason for these shots is because I wanted to get the light to bounce of the screen so you can see the quality I was going to take a photo on the decking near the pool but I didnít want Samsung sending the hit squad in or having to explain to my insurance company how it happened.
Ok back to reality an a look on the normal side, to put it bluntly this monitor looks great and on appearances looks like it was designed to impress and it has certainly done that. This has got to be the nicest looking LCD I have seen lets hope it isnít let down by the performance side.
