Noctua NF-S12B 120mm Case fan

Noctua it seems really do know how to make a fan that runs quietly. The inclusion of the LNA and ULNA speed reducers mean that even the most critical of silent PC types will be able to run this fan at a noise/airflow level they will be happy with. The only trade-off for this silence is a vastly reduced amount of air moved through the fan.
I hooked up the S12B to my fan controller to find out the perfect balance of noise/airflow, and decided that Iíd be quite happy running them at 800rpm. At this speed the soft choppy noise that I could hear at 900rpm was all but gone and from just a meter away I couldnít hear the fan over the background noise.
My only concern with these fans is the price. At £16, itís a lot to pay for a fan (and if youíre buying a few it quickly mounts up), but if a silent case fan is what you are after, then youíre going to have to go ahead and bite the bullet to get some.
- Very Very Quiet
- LNA/ULNA adaptors
- Braided wires
- Colour scheme
Reality Check: The NF-S12B pushes more air in open space than the NF-P12, and can be run silently with the UNLA. This makes it a great case fan, but it wonít work as well on heatsinks.
