Luxa2 LM200 (LVA20012N1Z) HTPC Case

The Luxa2 LM200 is a lovely case in all meanings of the word. It looks great with its silver and black front with its LCD display and wouldn’t look out of place in any living room. It was nice and simple to work with thanks to the removable drive shelf and for a micro ATX case it is quite spacious, no doubt some people will think it is too big, or at least too high. It oozes quality but as they say quality comes at a price and the Luxa2 LM200 is no different.

It isn’t the quietest of cases thanks mainly to the 120mm rear fan having a Molex connector on and therefore running at full speed all the time, I personally think it should have a 3 pin connector on so it can be connected to the motherboard and controlled that way. Wiring it so it ran off of 7v would have been better and, sufficient in my opinion, as it seems to shift quite a lot of air and o doubt would run quieter. Don’t get me wrong it isn’t annoyingly noisy but if it is on and you aren’t watching TV or listening to music you will definitely notice it.. The fan is easy enough to change though so no worries there, but I would expect to see all thermaltake media based and luxa2 stuff using their new very quiet fans..

Pros

  • Very easy to work with.
  • Fantastic build quality.
  • Very nice looking (always a personal opinion though).
  • Soft close doors on the I/O cover and optical drive.
  • Solid aluminium construction.
  • Excellent cooling for a micro atx media centre case.

Cons

  • Not cheap.
  • Rear fan a little loud.

Reality Check: If you want a quality media centre case, and can afford it, then this is almost a must.

Many thanks to Luxa2 for supplying the wonderful LM200 for review
