Lian Li Maxima Force 750w PSU

Under the protective foam we find the Maxima 750W PSU snugly secured. All of the cables are wrapped up in the box at the side.

Once out of the box we can see that the cables are braided nicely with the ends being both zip-tied and heat-shrink secured, so the sleeving is definitely going to stay in place.

The rating sticker on the side of the PSU along with a nice embossed aluminium name badge (Aluminium is Lian Li’s weapon of choice, so you can’t blame them for wanting to adorn the PSU in some).

The back of the PSU has a large mesh to let plenty of air exhaust out the back of the PSU, also a light up switch (handy for checking the PSU is receiving power), and rather interestingly a toggle switch. The fan in the PSU actually is a blue LED one, and this switch will turn the lights on and off.

And on the fan side of the PSU we can see another aluminium logo badge and a nice fan guard to keep fingers and things away from the sharp fan blades.

The finish on the PSU is a matt rough surface, which gives it a sort of high class industrial feel. I am slightly concerned about where the wires exit the PSU, although the metal is not sharp, there is nothing around it to protect the wires (such as a rubber grommet). For the most of us who keep PSUs stationary once installed, this won’t be a problem, but if you are prone to moving your PSU in and out of systems a lot, then this could cause wear on the wires which could be quite dangerous.

The wires are kept from being pulled on too hard (and risk breaking solder joints) by a zip tie from around the wires to the casing of the PSU.

The connectors (from left to right) are:

  • 6x SATA power
  • 7x Molex power
  • 1x FDD power
  • 1x 24pin ATX
  • 1x 4/8pin EPS 12v AUX
  • 2x 8/6pin PCIe power

Here we have all the different connectors on the PSU. The wire length is pretty decent, and even cases with bottom mounted PSU’s should be fine.
