Exceleram EP3001A - 6GIG Kit

Exceleram’s EP3100A 6GB kit is a very unassuming kit to stumble upon. It doesn’t have any fancy packaging, it doesn’t have any flashy stickers, and it doesn’t even have a heatspreader on the memory! But you’d be missing out if you over-looked them because of their plain appearance. The stock speed of 9-9-9-24 at 1333Mhz isn’t anything out of the ordinary either, but once overclocking it taken into account, these modules fair really well, with our particular kit being able to be pushed all the way to 1850Mhz at the stock timings and 1.66v. With loosening the timings and pushing the voltage more, I’m confident more could be had from our particular set.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find any information regarding pricing for this ram, but it’s marketed as a budget kit, so if the price is right it will be a very attractive buy for overclockers on a budget.

Being able to take a 6GB 1333Mhz kit all the way to 1850Mhz without even touching the timings is worthy of our recommended award. A true wolf in sheeps clothing!

Pros

  • Overclockability
  • Cool running
  • Wolf in sheeps clothing

Cons

  • Generic looking

Reality check: If you’re looking for DDR3 with great overclocking on a budget, you’ve found your kit. Excelram have come into the market and made their mark!
