Epower Technology
Lion silent 450w PSU
Today I have an EpowerTechnology 450W silent PSU (EP-450P5-L1) to review, I kike looking at the silent stuff and hope this lives up to expectations. I have a HTPC here although not a power draining pc it does get under heavy loads why time shifting (live TV pausing), hopefully this will be the answer to my prayers to totally silence my HTPC project lets have a look at the specs before we open it up.
Enhanced VGA Power Lead
A patented special feature of the gaming power series. The VGA power lead comes with a RMI filter and wire coat to eliminate EMI ‘s affect on VGA cards thus the ignoring snow and water wave effect will be reduced . A great plus for PC gaming.
Power Fan Control Switch
The Power Supply fan turns on automatically after reaching higher than 250W loading, or user have to option to turn on the fan at anytime.
SATA Power Lead
SATA power lead on all E Power Technology’s gaming power supply
Case Fan Speed Control
To maximized the silent effect of E Power Technology’s silent technology. All E Power technology’s gaming power armed with 3 special power leads for case fans. These lead will reduced the noise level created by case fans
Temperature Sensor
An amphibian temperature sensor lead out to the chassis. This feature add to the case cooing feature of E Power Technology’s power supply. The temperature sensor, together with the chassis fan lead, will regulated the case fan speed when the internal temperature rise than normal operation temperature.
LED Fan
The Lion power’s better than fan-less design also add a blue color LED light to the stand-by fan, which will lights as the fan turns, another cool feature to the gaming PC system

The first thing you will see this is no light weight PSU and carries most of the specs you would expect a high spec PSU to have. Ok enough of the specs and onto the PSU it self.
In the box
The first thing that entered my mind after opening the box was the glimpse of the cable ties I know this is off topic but I am sure I have seen them elsewhere anyway included in the package was the PSU, Cable ties, instruction manual and of coarse the power lead. Lets remove it from the box and take a closer look
Wow now that’s a finish you can clearly see how reflective the casing is, I am very impressed (not a major point but there is nothing wrong with making a PSU look good), as you may of noticed there is a wired cage on the back and under first impressions you may think the fan is there but its not the backup fan is at the front of the unit. That cage is there for the heatsink which would indicate to me it gets very hot and wouldn’t be advisable to try and touch it after a few hours under load lets have a closer look at it shall we
Well if its going to get hot at least they protected it and if it works I cant fault it, unlike some other silent PSU with there oversized heatsinks. Lets take a look at the rest of the back
