eDimensional Voice Buddy Software for Gaming

Voice Buddy has a lot to offer gamers of certain variants. Mainly those who play flight simulation games. Whilst I haven’t demonstrated this, I’m able to make such an assumption due to the fact that Voice Buddy does in fact work, and does recognise your commands. However, for anything fast paced such as Counter-Strike: Source or a racing game such as RaceDriver:GRID, a quick press of the keyboard will result in a much quicker response, as you need in such occasions.
How Ever I must also point out that our editor tried this software as well and had better luck in proper racing sims, he had voice buddy setup for all the pit commands so his pitting involved just going in and saying what he needed changed. Also he mentions it is very useful as I mentioned for flight sims, why he does not play full blown sims, he enjoys online dogfights and says voice buddy makes light work of changing weapons and such. If it was not for his comments this product would have got the bronze award, but as it stands with the simulation usefulness we would have to go with Silver, why not perfect it can do a good job in some games.
Pros
- Control your game using your voice
- Great idea for flight & sailing sims
- Good for RPG with multiple commands
Cons
- Comparatively slow compared to keyboard and mouse inputs.
- Not compatible with some modern games – e.g. GRID
Reality check: Controlling your games via voice recognition is a nice idea, however in reality, most gamers will find it hinders their gaming ability as apposed to aiding it. Unless you are playing a SIM or RPG that has many keys to remember ect this may not be for you!
