With everything removed we can all the included items listed in the specs page, it was nice to see Crucial had kept everything simple, I have grown a bit tired of seeing 1-2 year old games included with cards. I mean how many of you can really say that the game you got with the card is one you would of bought anyway?
Here it is, the Crucial X1900XTX, not much difference to most other versions, in fact the only way to tell it apart is the crucial sticker on the fan and power connector.
I still would like to see crucial use and aftermarket cooler on their cards for some distinction, but I presume it would not have been very cost effective, maybe if they release a version of the upcoming ATi flagship they will hold back and do something aftermarket with the cooling.
If it was not for the big red heatsink at the front of the card you probably would not be able to tell the difference between this and a X850XT from this angle, the whole noisy under heavy use cooling design needs to be re thought out at the oem stage wouldn’t you agree. Sometimes I hear these coolers at full spin and get ready for take off, I am sure the guy who designed the stock Ati cooler came straight from a jumbo jet engine design school or somthing like that.
The Back of the card as usual has the serial number and the warranty barcodes, and as you can also see the cooler is attached by 8 screws, something I am happy about, because if this is anything like the X850XT in the noise department it is something I would want to change soon.
At the rear there are the usual 2xDVI sockets as well as the HDTV/TV out port, also this is a two slot cooler as you would expect.
When sat next to a 7800GTX ( the card it was made to compete with) you can see the GTX is longer than the X1900XTX, only a slight bit but still. Although I would have been happier seeing a cooler of the 7800GTX style on this card. Anyway enough of pictures let us get down to the important part – testing.
