Opening the box reveals 2 well packed and protected sticks as well as a brief installation manual, in a sense the packaging is quiet smart and even if the box was dropped onto a hard surface, I don’t think it would damage the ram inside. lets take it out and have a proper look.
As you can clearly see both sticks are protected in anti static wrapping and have the specs listed on the sticker on each. The manual was pretty straight forward and I think a novice could handle the install with these instructions, let’s get the ram out and take a closer look.
The ram itself has black heat spreaders on a black PCB with the Ballistix logo in the centre, to the left of that is Crucial.com.
On closer inspection I spot what looks like a line of LED’s at the bottom which will be nice to see the sort of effect this gives, one thing that also stands out on the ram is the activity LED’s
I have to say I was quite impressed with the size of the activity LED’s as I have never been a fan of the bling, bling ram because of the size and height of it, now here we have a set that hasn’t broke the standard heat spreader size and that makes these already more appealing to me. You have to understand the point, with other brands, they activity part is like a separate module on top and can lead to problems with installations of some of the best performance air coolers on the market. This way there is no problems at all.
