Again on the spot with what it says on the packet, just like the Kingston the kit performed well even with its high timings. It would be hard to pick between the 2 at first glance but I have to say the Crucial would just pip it for me because with only a 0.1 increase on the voltage I was able to tighten the timings a little and gain that extra performance even if it was only a few FPS and a couple of hundred on the memory tests. It is still a slight improvement but not a giant one. Would I tell someone to buy these over the Kingston? Well the answer is yes unless it comes down to price, by that I mean due to the close nature of the performance I would say go for what ever is the cheapest out of the two, that’s how close it was. Just as the Kingston was the Crucial kit is recommended by us as we. A good solid kit with excellent after sales support to go with it.
Obviously there are better 2 gig kits on the market with tighter timings, but in this price range the memory is spot on with the crucial being nearly a whole 1/3 cheaper than the lower latency modules. That for me despite the lower timings of the pricier kits makes this kit ideal for those that want speed but are on a budget.
