Chieftec seemed to have disappeared – however, I’m pleased to say they’ve come back strong! The BPS-850C PSU is a great power supply, able to supply stable power to my new high-spec system. Coupled with the Chieftec 3 year warranty – you’re onto a winner.
At the start of this review, I mentioned that I had great anticipations for Chieftec – for what I consider their return to the enthusiast market – having not heard about them for a good while. I’m pleased to say I feel these anticipations were justified – Chieftec have created a brilliant modular PSU – which is both stable and quiet. My new high-spec test setup has proved a good test for this PSU, and it flew through our tests with flying colours. I award this PSU the XtremeComputing Recommended award.
- Plenty of connectors
- Good build quality
- Nice finish
- Fixed 2x 4+4 pin connectors – would be nice if one was detachable
- Not certified as Silver 80% PLUS (or upwards) Efficiency
Reality Check: If you’re in the market for a modular PSU, rated for 850watts, the Chieftec BPS-850C should be on your shopping list.
