Alphacool was founded in 2003 with one purpose, to supply quality water-cooling to the masses and easy to setup at that. Things have changed dramatically now and they have four global locations that combined generate a turnover of approx 6 million euros. The reason is simple, quality components at an affordable price. Here is a quote from Alphacool themselves,
Watercooling and why? A watercooling system can do what no air-cooler is able to achieve: maximum cooling performance combined with a minimum of noise!
The heat produced by a modern CPU (per square mm) is much higher than that given off by a hotplate! Therefore, it’s not a big surprise that air-cooling has reached its limit and better ways of cooling need to be applied.
The next step in developing cooling devices is watercooling. A watercooling system can consume much more heat and transport it safer, more reliable and, of course, more quiet than an air cooler, at the same time. Nowadays the heat loss of a CPU per square mm is significantly higher than the heat of a ring on an electric cooker. Thus it is not surprising that the technique of air-cooling has gradually reached its limits. However, in order to cool a CPU at acceptable noise level a few manufacturers are even using solid silver as a heat conductor to transport the heat from the CPU quickly enough. Radiators can also be driven passively; which means without a fan.
With distributors in more than 42 countries there growth rate is excellent and one of there distributors are www.componentsuk.co.uk) who kindly supplied the Block for today’s review the NexXxoS NVXP-3, the version we have today is for the 6800 and 7800 series of nVIDIA cards (X1800 versions are available to) so lets get on with the review.
