Akasa Eclipse-62 Aluminum Case & Side Panel
Part 1- The package
Today I will be looking at the Akasa Eclipse-62 and the side panel available for it. I mentioned this case a while ago in a news item and couldn’t wait to get my hands on one, Why?? Well for those in the know this case was originally designed as a server case but became so popular it was almost obsolete. This is where Akasa stepped in and have made it main stream available as well as a nice windowed panel for it. This is not included with the case but brought as a separate item, but it is not expensive with a general price of £14.99. ok enough of the history lesson and lets open the box
As you can see the case is packaged in the usual way and well protected it is here you will notice the extra width, what I mean by this is I would say this case is about 2-3 inches wider than most. Before I get the case out of the box and take a closer look lets show you the specs.
AK-BKCSE-01

DESCRIPTION
INCLUDES
Ok lets get it out of the box
By now you can see what I mean about the width, basically if you look at the picture on the left from the end of the CDROM bay to the right side is how much extra. A look to the right photo gives you a rough idea to with the hole for the PSU and how much space between the pci back plates and side of the case, you may also notice here everything is screwed down with thumb screws nice! Also included for the fitting accessories was a set of wheels, these are to attach to the bottom of the case if you wish ( normal rubber feet are already installed) I found these to be a nice little extra but will not be using them. On the other hand I like the fact the case comes with black screws for you hdd’s and 5.25 bay stuff.
Ok you can see the photo above there is 2 top thumb screws to remove the top (yes the top is removable too) I will unscrew them and take the lid of and give you a top down shot.
Taking the top of you will see this, a well set out case with a nice mat finish inside. The right side is where the PSU goes with the big square hole being flush with the PSU’s fan. Let’s get the side panel off and take a look inside.
Wow the finish on the inside is excellent, so good I found it hard to get a picture with all that black. Anyway on with the review, the left picture you will see it has 7x 3.5 bays and 4x 2.5 bays, if your wondering what the black rack is hanging down in the right picture is well.. That is another 2x 3.5 bays. Yep that’s 9x 3.25 bays altogether, very nice indeed.
