Changing a PSU on this test rig can be a bit of a pain due to the fact in the whole system and nearly every connector is used apart from 2 of the PCI-E connectors and 2 sata, infact I even have to use an old power block (1 into 3) to get all the molex cables cables I need. As I mentioned although my rig is not a dual card setup I still need every connector and more.
ABIT IP35 Pro
1x Zotac 8800GTX
Patriot 9600 DDR2 @ 1100mhz
Non removable disks
1 x Western Digital Raptor X
4x Western Digital Caviar
2x 200 USB, 1x 200 E-Sata & 1TB western digital worldbook
Pioneer 16x speed D/L
Akasa PowerMax 1000W
This rig also has 6x Cold cathodes, 6x120mm LED fans, 2x 92mm LED fans, 4x led spotlights, a 12V water pump, fan controller and a LCD Crystalfontz display, add to that the12 USB devices, a overclocked CPU, 5x HDDs, a raptor and 1x firewire device, this rig pulls some power.
Readings were taken of all the voltage rails at Idle and Load. To ensure full load the PC was set running with the following applications ORTHOS, Adaware smart scan, running the 3d mode on ATI Tool.
I can only take readings from 1 of the 12v rails here as well as the board I am using here has been miles away (up to 0.1) on the voltage readings since last bios update so the multi metre is used.
Akasa 1000w PowerMax
The Akasa Powermax done good the 12v rail was only swayed by 0.4 were as the 3.3 and the 5v were very tightly regulated. Not bad if you ask me and much more solid than I expected.
