The RAM modules look very nice with their anodized aluminium, red heat spreaders.
The stickers are iridescent and the logos are printed in high detail. Only two simple clips hold the heat spreaders on, but they clamp down hard – but not hard enough for my prying fingers:
Under the lid there is a fairly thin thermal pad (thin being good!) contacting the chips to the heat spreader. The chips themselves are Micron D9 chips, which looking about are used on a number of high speed RAM dims. These seem to like a bit more than 2.2V VDimm, so we’ll see what I can get out of them with a bit more voltage…
