Backy—a Simple but effective external device option

Today we are looking at A.C.Ryan’s Backy, a simple but effective external power device. The Backy is available in 9 versions each is designed with a purpose, from powering and connecting a external ATA or SATA HDD to just 4 pin Molex or a couple of four pin Molex and 3 pin fan connectors. The range covers them all, click here for full range.

Part 1 – The Package

As you can see we have the 2xMolex and 2x3 pin fan version of the Backy this comes already covered in UV blue sleeving and slots into one of the back PCI plate slots to provide the connections out side the case. This is a very handy thing and could be used for a number of things. Let’s get it out of the packaging and take a closer look

As you can see from the 2 photos above the device is well built, I tried in vain to move the connecters or wobble them on the plate. I must admit I have tried something like this before, but it was no were near as well made as this.

Clcik on Part number to View the Corresponding model, the highlighted one is the one here on review.

As I said they have a use for everything from HDD power and dater to just power, the options are limitless. Lets put it in the machine and take a look at the UV properties shall we.

That’s it a really install and computer on and you can see the UV reacts well, the part use is easy just plug in your now external devices from fans to water cooling pumps the choice is yours.

Conclusion

I have to say after spending a week with this I didn’t realize how much it can be used for, from fans, UV lights, water pumps, el wire and basically anything that uses a 4 pin or a 3 pin connector. It proved to be useful and opens up some more avenues in the modding department, It’s hard giving a final verdict on this one as it does everything it promises to do. The best way to sum it up I suppose is at first upon seeing this you might think, well what do I need that for? But in the week I have used it I have found it invaluable and have a couple of UV tubes connected to it as well as a couple of fans blowing over and external Radiator. I think I might even go as far getting some UV paint and doing a design on the wall and lighting it up, let the modding begin!

Pros

Well Packaged

Excellent finish

Available in a range of options

Could help create some very interesting mods

Cons

none
