Zotac ZBOX AD02 Plus

Posted by: editor on: 05.09.2011 10:02:26 [ Print | 0 comment(s) ]

Conclusion

I have to say I was quite surprised with this little box of tricks, not only does the Zotac ZBOX AD02 Plus tick all the net box requirements, It also ticks HTPC requirements as well. I did not in no way expect the numbers I saw I was really expecting a few hundred less across most of the scores.

Zotac are really becoming the kings of ITX in my opinion and have some fantastic options including this little box of tricks, I have to say the fact it was easy to take apart I would easily recommend even the barebones version to someone who is seeking something for a media pc or a net top.

If you use a computer for Browsing the web (or the inter web as parents call it), playing music, watching videos, light editing of pictures, iTunes, HD content, Syncing your phone, emails and just general computer tasks, then the Zotac ZBOX Plus AD02 would make a great choice, it handles all of those tasks with relative ease and will surprise you.

Although there are a few minors (External USB DVD drive needed) I actually think this is a great option for HTPC, I also see it as a great option for those that decide to buy or recommend a PC that their parents could get. I also see it as a perfect choice for internet cafes ect, as it makes much more sense due to its small size.

Finally I have to admit to getting one of these and putting it in my parents place and removing the big tower out of the picture, which should say enough shouldn’t it.

Pros

  • Small
  • Wall mount and vesa mountable
  • 6 USB ports
  • HDMI out
  • Optical out
  • Great Performance from a small box
  • Built in Card reader
  • Easy to upgrade (as quick as minute)

Cons

  • Lacks DVD drive

Reality Check: The Zotac ZBOX Plus AD02 is a great option for those seeking something that will be used for home computing tasks, it can even play classic games such as Counter strike source and quite a few games of that era. But for me it also is a good option for HTPC which makes the ZBOX AD02 plus a good candidate for our gold award.
